If your child is bringing their own packed lunch, please send in a clearly named lunchbox so they are not misplaced.
Our aim for our packed lunch children is to ensure that all packed lunches brought from home and consumed within the school (or on educational visits) provide the pupil with healthy and nutritious food, which is now regulated by national standards.
Some healthy lunchbox options might include:
at least one portion of fruit and one portion of vegetables every day.
meat, fish or other source of non-dairy protein (e.g. lentils, kidney beans, chickpeas, hummus and falafel) every day
oily fish, such as salmon, at least once every three weeks.
a starchy food such as any type of bread, pasta, rice, couscous, noodles, potatoes or other type of cereals every day.
dairy food such as milk, cheese, yoghurt, fromage frais or custard every day.
only water, fresh fruit juice, milk, yoghurt or milk drinks and smoothies – no fizzy, sugary drinks, cans or glass bottles please.
Fresh drinking water is always available from the canteen area if your child forgets their water bottle.
Packed lunches can also include a small, lunchbox sized chocolate biscuit or bag of mini biscuits, but please do not send pupils in with full-sized chocolate bars or bags of sweets (Haribo, Maoam etc) as these will be given to class teachers to return to parents at the end of the school day.
Reminder: We are a NUT FREE School. Therefore, please do not send in:
peanut butter or any other nut butters (almond, hazelnut, pistachio, cashew, walnut or coconut)
hazelnut chocolate spread (this includes ‘Nutella’ and any hazelnut spread products: ‘Kinder Buenos’, ‘Happy Hippos’, ‘Ferrero Rocher’)
